Bradley Capitosti, better known as “Cap,” a native of the CSRA, stands as a write-in candidate for Burke county sheriff.
Brad began a career in law enforcement in 2010 with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office working as first a jailer and moving into Field Operations and SWAT. He gained unique hands-on experience interacting with community members when he was then assigned to special operations covering the Housing Authority. In this role, he encountered critical situations that required a specialized skillset in both conflict de-escalation and compassionate leadership.
Due to his expertise, in 2014, he was named a member of the first ever Richmond County Gang Unit. Brad made great contributions to building a database of known gang members and dismantling their associations in the community, ensuring the safety of Richmond County residents. This set him up for success in his next assignment to the Richmond County Narcotics division, where he worked undercover investigations into organized crime while attached to the federal Drug Enforcement Agency. Brad also became intimately familiar with the plight of family members that are affected by their loved ones’ drug usage and gang ties. He was named Richmond County Investigator of the Year in 2016.
He then took this experience into Burke County where he worked as an investigative sergeant in the narcotics division, collaborating with local, state, and federal law enforcement to combat drug and firearms trafficking, leading to numerous arrests and ensuring the safety of all Burke County residents. Due to his efforts, Brad was named 2018 Officer of the Year by the Waynesboro Optimist Club.
In 2020, Brad joined his brother in co-owning Augusta Land Management LLC, where they directly support multiple US Military bases and federal installations across 4 state lines. He resides in Waynesboro with his wife Amy. They have two children: Savana, a sophomore marketing major at Georgia Southern University, and Tyler, a senior at Aquinas High School pursuing education in nuclear engineering.
